How long are you staying in Taiwan?

Despite the negative words of the interviewer, we have been here since January 2004. The inquiry posed is the magically, fun filled question that everyone wants the answer to. Taiwan to the foreigner is the real Neverland. A large percentage of foreign residents would agree. The reality of their home countries is as frightening to them as the grown up world to Peter Pan. You come. You stay. You go back to your home country and realize everyone has grown up except you. How easy it is to forget that time is continuing outside of this world; people buying homes, having babies, gaining equity, establishing careers, and long term planning. But to combat these reasons, we have justified ourselves by saying those things are "worldly."
